Kam Momi, MD

Dr. Momi is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, fellowship-trained in spine surgery. At CoastalSpine, Dr. Momi focuses 100 percent in the care of back and neck pain. Dr. Momi completed a fellowship in spine surgery at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston. A fellowship is the most advanced and specialized physician training available. Dr. Momi received his Bachelor of Science from Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a place on the dean’s list every semester. Dr. Momi proceeded to earn his medical degree at Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He completed an internship in surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City and a residency in orthopedics at New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Momi is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the North American Spine Society. He has given lectures at New Jersey Medical School, the New Jersey State Orthopaedic Association’s Annual Meeting, New Jersey Orthopaedic Hospital and Mayo Clinic. Dr. Momi is involved in ongoing research related to limb lengthening and orthopedics of the limbs.

Mark Testaiuti, MD
Board-Certified, spine neurosurgeon
Dr. Testaiuti is a board-certified neurosurgeon at coastal spine who specializes exclusively in spine care and complex spinal surgery. His interest in spinal disorders and spine surgery began in medical school at Drexel University/Hahnemann where he participated in spinal cord injury research and received honors in Anatomy and Neurosurgery. After graduating medical school, he began his Neurological Surgery residency training at The Albert Einstein Medical College/ Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. While there, his experience in spinal surgery matured as he spent his senior and chief residency years receiving advanced training with leading New York City orthopedic spine surgeons and neurosurgeons in complex spinal surgery. This extensive “in-residency” training easily amounted to the equivalent (or more) than the standard one year of fellowship training. After residency, Dr. Testaiuti joined the Cooper Health System’s Neurosurgery division at Robert wood Johnson Medical School/UMDNJ and became an assistant professor of Neurosurgery. While there he co-developed and served as the founding co-director of the Cooper-Schriner's Spine Surgery Fellowship program where he helped to fellowship train orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons in spinal surgery. During that time he treated many complex spine trauma patients, published and co-authored articles in peer-reviewed Trauma, Neurosurgery and Spine Journals in addition to extensive practice experience treating patients with tumors of the spine and complex degenerative conditions of the spine. He was subsequently promoted to Chief of the division of Neurosurgery and served as such until his departure into private practice in 2002.
Dr. Testaiuti has been on staff at the Virtua health system since 1998. While at Virtua he and his partners were instrumental in the development of the Virtua Marlton’s Spine Program that assisted in the Virtua health system in becoming one of only a few hospitals nationally to receive JCAHO certification in spine care. Dr. Testaiuti has been asked to appear on local and national television programs discussing spine surgery, spinal cord injury and technological advances in spine care. He has lectured locally and nationally on spinal disorders and to neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons from around the country in spine surgery techniques. He has been recognized with local and regional awards including numerous “TOP DOC” nominations in South Jersey Magazine and has been listed as one of “America’s Top Surgeons” by the Consumer’s Research Council of America and The Center for the Study of Services-Consumers Check Book. He is presently involved in ongoing investigations at Coastal Spine that include artificial disk and motion preservation technology, and the use of stem cells for spinal fusion surgery. His memberships include the American medical Association, The Congress of neurological surgeons, The American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the North American spine Society. He certified by the American Board of neurological surgery and is licensed and New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Larry Deutsch, MD
Board-Certified, fellowship-trained spine surgeon
Dr. Deutsch is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship-trained in spine. Dr. Deutsch was the head of the Interdisciplinary Spine Service at Cooper University Hospital a level one trauma center for ten years. He taught residents and fellows as an assistant professor of surgery at Cooper, an adjunct instructor of orthopedic surgery at Thomas Jefferson University’s Jefferson Medical College, Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Deutsch was the European consultant for pediatric and Orthopedic spine surgery at Landstuhl Army Regional Medical Center in Germany. He went on special assignments in Moscow and in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm, during which he earned several medals and two bronze campaign stars. After earning a Bachelor of Science from the University of New York at Albany, Dr. Deutsch earned his medical degree from Upstate Medica School In Syracuse New York in 1982. Dr. Deutsch completed an internship in general surgery at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. He completed residency and fellowship training at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and New York Orthopedic Hospital. Dr. Deutsch has spoken at multiple conferences and given presentations on orthopedic surgery nationwide. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the North American Spine Society. Dr. Deutsch specializes in pediatric and adult spine surgery.

William Mitchell, MD

Dr. Mitchell is a board-certified neurological surgeon, fellowship-trained in spine surgery. At CoastalSpine, Dr. Mitchell centers his practice around the care of back and neck pain. Dr. Mitchell completed a fellowship in spine surgery at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH. A fellowship is the most advanced and specialized physician training available. Dr. Mitchell received his Bachelor of Science from Harvard University and his medical degree at University of Southern California School of Medicine. He completed an internship in general surgery along with a residency in neurological surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Mitchell is an Associate with Privileges at Virtua Health-West Jersey Health System. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, American Medical Association, North American Spine Society and other professional memberships. Dr. Mitchell is on the Board of Directors of the North American Spine Society. He has given lectures at American Association of Neurological Surgeons Annual Meetings, Annual Meetings of the North American Spine Society, Annual Meetings of the Rachidian Society along with other lecture appointments. Dr. Mitchell is involved in ongoing research related to minimally invasive spinal surgery.

Scott Jarmain, MD

As the Medical Director of CoastalSpine, Dr. Jarmain is a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation, which focuses on nonsurgical care of back and neck problems. Within that specialty, Dr. Jarmain is fellowship-trained in spine, which provides proficiency in the interventional use of injections for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes. Dr. Jarmain completed a spine fellowship at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore. A fellowship is the most advanced and specialized physician training available. At CoastalSpine, he performs spinal injections and EMGs for diagnostic purposes to help patients recover from back and neck pain without surgery. Dr. Jarmain has provided medical care and support for a variety of athletes, including teams at Johns Hopkins University, Philadelphia University and the USA Golden Gloves boxing team. He has also served as a staff physician at the Baltimore Marathon and at several Special Olympics events. Dr. Jarmain received his Bachelor of Science at Boston College, where he was President of the Boston College Pre-Medical Club. After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Jarmain completed his internship at Frankford Hospital and his residency at Temple University/Moss Rehab Hospitals in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Dr. Jarmain is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Pennsylvania Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports and Occupational Rehabilitation and the Association of Academic Physiatrists. He has contributed to the publication of several articles and given presentations at medical conferences nationwide. Away from the office, Dr. Jarmain enjoys golf, tennis, fiction, writing and spending time with his family.

Seth Scholl, DO
Board-Certified, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
Dr. Scholl is a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation and deals solely with the nonsurgical treatment of neck and back pain. Dr. Scholl was born and raised in New York, where he studied at Binghamton University, graduating cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science in biology. He was then accepted into the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and began his medical training. After medical school, Dr. Scholl was one of four physicians chosen to spend an extra year teaching as a fellow through the anatomy department. He then completed his internship at Long Beach Medical Center in Long Beach, New York. During his internship, he wrote a computer-based medical book that was designed to diagnose and treat medical conditions using the Palm Pilot. He then moved to Philadelphia to begin his three-year residency at Temple University/Moss Rehab Hospitals in physical medicine and rehabilitation. U.S. News and World Report consistently names Moss Rehab Hospital as one of the top 20 rehabilitation hospitals in the country. At CoastalSpine, Dr. Scholl specializes in helping many patients find relief of back and neck pain symptoms through nonsurgical treatments. Dr. Scholl is the director of the electrodiagnostic laboratory at CoastalSpine. He is proficient in performing EMGs that are done to help diagnose a “pinched” nerve in the spine. He is also well-trained in trigger point injections, which can relieve muscle-related pain. Dr. Scholl maintains his affiliation with Temple University and has been granted the title of associate professor through the rehabilitation department. Dr. Scholl is active in teaching and in the mentoring of physical medicine residents. He is a member of the American Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Association of Physiatrists. Over the last few years, he has contributed to the publication of multiple articles. During his free time, Dr. Scholl enjoys sprint and Olympic distance triathlons, competitive running and hiking.

Michael J. Paul, DO

Dr. Michael Paul is a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation and deals solely with the nonsurgical treatment of neck and back pain. After a tour of duty in the United States Marine Corps he graduated Summa Cum Laude from Rowan University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He was then accepted into the graduate program in Biomedical Sciences at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine graduating fourth in his class. Continuing his education he received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2001 and completed an Internal Medicine Internship at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002. Dr. Paul then went on to his Residency at Temple University Hospital where as Chief Resident he was awarded the James T. Demopoulos Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Outstanding Resident Award. Dr. Paul is specialty-trained in spine, which provides proficiency in the interventional use of injections for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes. Currently he is a member of the International Spine Intervention Society (ISIS), the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP), and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as well as other outstanding professional associations. While maintaining his position as a Clinical Instructor at Temple University Hospital and School of Medicine. Dr. Paul is active in teaching and mentoring in his children’s sports including ice hockey and baseball. He also continues to play ice hockey and is an avid cyclist.
