Pain Symptoms

Do you have unexplained shoulder stiffness, back pain symptoms or neck pain symptoms that leave you unable to perform normal tasks? The nerves in the spine and neck send signals from your brain to the rest of your body. If you sustain a spine injury or the functions are disrupted in some way, you may experience symptoms in seemingly unrelated places.

Arm/Shoulder Pain

Soreness in the arm or shoulder could signal a herniated disc in the spine that is pinching nerves. You may also experience numbness or tingling radiating down the arm into your fingers. If the pain is radiating down your arm, schedule an appointment immediately. We may also diagnose a primary shoulder or arm problem. If the issue requires treatment, we will refer you to the appropriate non-spinal specialist such as an orthopedic surgeon.

Low Back Pain Symptoms

Most lower back pain and lower back spasms are caused by a muscle strain from injury or overuse. Patients also experience low back pain due to a herniated disc, osteoarthritis, spondylolisthesis or spinal stenosis, fracture or spinal deformity. Less often, bacterial infection, vascular problems or spinal tumors can also cause low back pain symptoms.

Neck Pain Symptoms

Neck pain symptoms are caused by trauma or muscle or ligament strain. Neck problems can also be symptoms of degenerative diseases, poor posture or abnormalities in the bone or joints.

Leg Pain

A herniated disc in the low back can cause sciatica, which is defined by pain radiating down the leg. If the pain is only felt in one leg or worsens if you cough or sneeze, you may have pinched nerves because of a herniated disc. Spinal stenosis can also cause leg pain often accompanied by worsening back pain when walking that is relieved when you rest.
